Why are there PTFE and Kynar extended delivery

Over the past year, the industry has had more difficulties than I have come across inside my 30 years experience. In the past I have seen sharp price increases, and I have observed several shortages, and delivery delays caused by plastic resin allocations through plastic resin suppliers. This is the first instance I have seen all these issues at one time.

PTFE Rod (TFE) and Kynar - PVDF are both on allocation.

Both of these resins are in short supply. The  PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene product PTFE (TFE) and also PVDF  manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar which is mined in Mongolia and China. The worldwide need for this mineral has grown significantly, as well as supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and really low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is utilised throughout a bunch of purposes from non-stick fry griddles to ptfe tape for use at home. This particular mineral is actually the important raw materials inside the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and a lot of refrigerants. This rise in demand joined together with general shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double within the past year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to stay in affect in the near future.
